Apple devices are designed to be compatible with each other to form a unique ecosystem where everything is linked fast and works seamlessly together. All AirPods models are no exception – whether you intend to use them only for working tasks or switch between various Apple devices. AirPods give you the freedom to answer the calls and speak on the go, manage your playlist while listening, call for Siri, and so much more.

In the guide below you’ll find the instructions for connecting AirPods with various devices – not only branded Apple gadgets.

All the models of AirPods are compatible with any device that supports Bluetooth connection. This means you can also use your AirPods with laptops running on Windows or Linux, smartphones on Android, etc. Nonetheless, the magic of Apple is realized only when AirPods are used with the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

When people talk about the ‘Magic of Apple’, they mean the features that were developed by the brand and work only if you pair the AirPods with an iPhone: gesture functions, playback pause when you remove an AirPod from ear, etc. However, our review will show you how to pair AirPods with both Android and Apple devices.

  1. Navigate to the iPad Settings and enable Bluetooth.

  4. Hold off until the animated popup appears.
  5. To follow the on-screen instructions, tap Connect.

How to connect AirPods to a MacBook?

AirPods may be connected to a laptop in two different ways.

Your headphones are connected automatically with your MacBook if they are already linked to the Apple iPhone or iPad. The laptop’s Handoff ecosystem feature needs to be enabled in order to perform this. Use the same Apple ID to log into iCloud in order to activate it.

  • Slide the AirPods case open.
  • Locate the menu bar at the top of your Mac screen, click the speaker icon for volume control, and choose AirPods.

You have to pair the AirPods right to your Mac if they haven’t already been linked with your iPhone or iPad.

  • Without removing the headphones, open the AirPods case.
  • The status light on the case will flash white if you hold down the switch on the back.
  • On your Mac, select System Preferences and then Bluetooth.
  • Choose AirPods from the device list.

You’ll be asked to speak “Hey Siri” (while having your AirPods on) in order to activate Siri after you link your AirPods to your laptop.

How to Connect Airpods to Android phone

Not every function that comes pre-installed on an Apple iPhone will be available in this case. For instance, your phone won’t show the AirPods’ power level and Siri is not going to respond to any of your queries. Nevertheless, you can double-tap an earbud to activate Google Assistant.

In the event that you don’t mind it, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to Settings, find Connected Devices section and then Bluetooth.
  3. Select “Pair New Device”.
  4. Make sure the AirPods are in the case for charging.
  5. Then, open the lid and hold down the set-up button on the case’s rear for approximately five seconds, or until the white status light starts to flash.
  6. To use the AirPods Max, hold down the noise control button for approximately five seconds, or until the AirPods Max appears under Available Devices and the status light starts to flash white.
  7. Tap AirPods on your Android mobile, then follow any on-screen instructions.
